Project Evaluation
Thinking back over this piece of work, I think it is the most complicated piece of work I have done so far. I have had to learn many new technical skills and spend many hours editing and researching how to do things. Some tasks I really enjoyed, and some were quite difficult as they involved lots of written English. Although the written tasks were hard for me, they were also helpful as the research around the writing gave me the opportunity to properly understand the tasks and put together the right responses for the project.
My favourite task was creating the animated logo in aftereffects and illustrator. I tried several different ideas until I chose the final design. I really enjoyed making the five-colour head logo and animating it. Logos in media do get regularly updated and changed to reflect current trends, I think the 5 head logo could be changed in many ways to give it a different look, but still maintain a recognisable brand. I like the way the yellow head bumps out of line and then settles back into place when the 5th head moves in. It is a little bit different and a little funny whilst still being professional. Creating this piece of work, I have understood much more about keyframes. Once I had finished the design it I reminded me a bit of the logo for the arcade game Pacman. I felt quite happy with this as Pacman is a retro game, and I was trying to make a retro look.
The idea of creating a professional portfolio was a big task. I still think of myself as a student with lots to learn. Doing this work has made me realise that I have learned a lot and do have some good media skills. I am also aware that there is much more to learn, but I am looking forward to learning more.
I still need to work on managing my time and schedules. I am getting much better at estimating how long work will take but need to allow more time for doing things more than once. I had three goes at designing my logo, and that took lots of time. I also need to make time for adding signing to any videos that I make and adding the subtitles. This makes every piece of work a filming project even if it isn't! I also need to work on lots of small projects to keep my premier pro skills going, so I don't forget what I have learned. I particularly need to work on illustrator skills as this is the first time I have used this software.
So overall, I am really pleased with what I have learned and the work that I have produced. I know I will have suggestions for improvement when it is marked, but this will help me to do better next time.
